About Emetaron Tata Abuah
A Passion for Books
Emetaron Tata Abuah's is a Writer. She was born in London in 1968. She is originally from Onitsha a big commercial city in Anambra State famous for its vast market and trading enterprise located in Nigeria. She attended international schools in New York, Tokyo and attended an all girl's boarding school in Headington, Oxford. She read Politics and Society at Birkbeck College, London University. She graduated with a 2.1. Her father Ejoh Aloysious Abuah was a successful diplomat who became Nigerian Ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland between 1997- 1998. He was dismissed from the Nigerian Foreign service for raping his Filipino maid during his tenure as Ambassador. In 2011 he was sentenced to 8 years in prison by the Swiss authorities for his crime. As a result of his conviction he is unable to travel abroad due to fear of arrest from INTERPOL. She was diagnosed with Schizophrenia in 2000 due to experiencing physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse and psychological abuse from members of her own immediate family as well as extended family which is why she is committed to writing books that deeply reflect her own life story such as topics related to Inter-generational trauma, Inter-generational poverty from a Nigerian/West-African Perspective, silence, secrecy and outdated attitudes and perceptions about sex, sexual intercourse, desire, forbidden love and intimacy from a Nigerian/African perspective, dysfunctional family of origin dynamics, sexual abuse, stereo-typical body image perceptions that Nigerian women/men perpetuate to down play their own insecurities about what a black African/Nigerian woman should look like, Physical abuse and violence, emotional abuse, Prostitution, the allure and rise of the so called 'Big Men/Sugar daddies/Sugar Mommies phenomenon in Nigeria attracting young girls, women and men due to entrenched structures of poverty in order to afford the basic necessities we all need in order to live a decent life and thrive, bigamy, Female genital mutilation/Cutting, Period-Poverty, Gender Based Violence, Gender Inequality, Patriarchy, Matriarchy, The role and Power of the church/spiritual churches in Nigeria, the residual effects of Post-Colonial Slave Syndrome and patrimony which has impacted on and established a regime of corrupt governance and hierarchical power struggles in Nigeria, native doctors, stigma and taboo related to mental health, Recovery, healing and Post -Traumatic Growth.

As well as the normalisation, acceptance, allure, attraction, status skin lightening/toning and bleaching has within the confines of Nigerian/African society for young girls, women and even men to demonstrate western ideals of beauty and therefore in doing so perpetuate such fallacies to the detriment of their own physical, emotional health, mental health, well being and self esteem especially amongst Igbo/Edo women respectively in Eastern and southern Nigeria.

Emetaron Tata Abuah is committed to writing books that are a reflection of the abusive, dysfunctional culture and environment she grew up in that encapsulates realistic stories about the Afro-Caribbean/Nigerian/British-Black African/Black experience within the context and frame of mental health, dysfunctional family of origin dynamics, recovery, healing as well as the residual impact of post-colonialism which has created and established different perspectives about inter-generational trauma/inter-generational poverty which she believes has underlying repercussions for anyone who claims African/Nigerian descent and heritage in the developing world.
